How to get the cheaper day-ticket to Petra?

by Troy

I am planning on entering Jordan on June 10th and going immediately to Petra. After spending the day touring the site, I will be spending the night in Aqaba.
What rate would I have to pay for my one day visit..90 or 50?

Answer: 50 JD.

To be classified as a "overnight visitor" instead of "one day visitor" what documents do I need to bring?

Answer: When I asked this question, the guy at the Visitor Center told me that a hotel reservation can prove that you are going to stay in Jordan.
So make sure you have one: at you can make a reservation without any downpayment and you can cancel it later if you don't need it.

Also, the typical "one day visitors" are arriving from Israel via the Eilat-Aqaba border in organized groups so it is easy for the Petra personnel to spot them.

You didn't mention at which border station you are going to enter Jordan, I only presume it's not Aqaba since you said you were heading there after visiting Petra.
