The discounted entrance fee for Jordanian citizens, residents* and students** remains 1 JD.

(*foreigners holding Jordanian residence card)
(**students with a valid Jordanian university ID)

The increased prices now include a 800 m horse ride from the Visitor Center to the entrance of the Siq, informational brochures and maps and a guiding service.

You may hire horse carriages from the Visitor Center to the Treasury and back for cca. 20 JD.

Camel and donkey rides are also available on the site after the Treasury, at extra cost.

How To Prove That You Are An 'Accommodated Visitor'?

Show your passport and the date of the Jordanian entry stamp will prove when you entered Jordan.

If you are heading to Petra straight after crossing the border or landing at the airport then, unfortunately, it is not enough to show a hotel reservation.

You have to pay the 90 JD entrance fee for non-accommodated visitors and when you go back the following day, after spending the night in a hotel in Petra, you will get a 40 JD refund.

How To Get The Best Value For Your Money in Petra

The site of Petra is so large, if you want to visit it properly you should spend there at least two days. Then the 2-Days Pass will cost you only 22.50 JD per day.

Take your time: book a room in one of the hotels in Wadi Musa, visit Petra by Night, learn to cook traditional Jordanian dishes at Petra Kitchen or take a Historical Tour to Shobak Castle

You could also visit Little Petra (Al-Beidha), there is no entrance fee here!
