Transport from Sheikh Hussein border crossing to Amman

Q: I plan to cross the border at Beit Shean/Sheikh Hussein.

Are there buses from there to Amman?
Ultimately I am heading to Petra, but I assume I need to get to Amman first.
Thank you.

There is no direct bus from the Jordan River Border Crossing to Amman.

If you are not in a hurry, you can walk to the nearest village from where you can take a public minibus to Irbid, Jerash or As Salt and from those cities to Amman.

Public buses are inexpensive but they don't have fixed timetable.

The JETT Bus from Amman to Petra departs at 6.30h in the morning, so you will have to spend at least 1 night in Amman.

Alternatively, you can take a taxi from the border to Amman for around 70-80 JD or directly to Petra for around 130 JD.
